audio: India - Tradition and Transformation

For all those of you who still listen to the radio, here's the link to some info on tonight's CBC Radio special on India.

As per the title of this post, it's called India: Tradition and Transformation and will be airing tonight at 7:30 pm on Dispatches. CBC Radio One is 99.1 FM in the GTA. Or, you can listen live via the internet here

India is an economic powerhouse, a global cultural force, with both soaring wealth and crushing poverty. Global Village and Dispatches are joining forces for a combined 90-minute program focusing on contemporary India. It is a combination of cultural, social, religious, socio-political stories gathered by two CBC journalists. Piya Chattopadhyay and Stephen Puddicombe have created a compelling portrait of a country that is bound to its past - a past that is also providing a springboard to the future. This portrait is drawn through the personal stories of Indian men and women who are grappling with these often surprising and profound societal changes.

Hmm... What else...

Does anyone remember those Carlsberg ads that said things like "You finally get Jazz. Welcome to your Carlsberg years."? I'm not sure if I agree with that; I've been getting jazz for a while now. At least, I think I have. Anyway, I get country music too. What does that mean? Maybe I'm now in my whatever-beer-they-drink-in-the-praries-and-the-deep-south years.

Baby, Now That I've Found You
Alison Krauss

Baby,
now that I've found you
I won't let you go
I built my world around you
I need you so,
baby even though
You don't need me
now

Baby,
now that I've found you
I won't let you go
I built my world around you
I need you so
Baby even though
You don't need me,
You don't need me oh, no

Baby, baby,
when first we met
I knew in this heart of mine

That you were someone I couldn't forget.
I said right,
and abide my time

Spent my life looking
for that somebody
to make me feel like new
Now you tell me that you want to leave me
But darling, I just can't let you

Baby, baby,
when first we met
I knew in this heart of mine
That you were someone I couldn't forget.
I said right,
and abide my time

Spent my life looking
for that somebody
to make me feel like new
Now you tell me that you want to leave me
But darling, I just can't let you

Now that I found you
I built my world around you

I need you so, baby even though
You don't need me now

Baby, now that I've found you
I won't let you go
I built my world around you
I need you so
Baby even though
You don't need me

You don't need me no, no
