My Sassy Girl is one of a very small list of films that I consider worth more than a single viewing. It was released a few years back in S. Korea and can be picked up on DVD with English subtitles pretty much anywhere by now, I think.

Anyway, I heard a little whiles back that it had been optioned by DreamWorks for an English remake, and I just found out that it's being directed by Gurinder Chadha of Bride and Prejudice and Bend it Like Beckham fame. And I don't know if that's a good thing. Mind you, I don't dislike her work, exactly. I just don't really like it either.

Along a similar vein, it seems that Mr. Spielberg is going to do an adaptation of... wait for it... Tintin. Yes, you read right. I don't know how far along the scripting and/or filming is, but this also does not bode well. But who knows, maybe it'll all turn out well.

Of course, this mention of Tintin let's me segue quite nicely into my next little bit on guilty pleasures. Watch for it.

And before I go off and find some food, much thanks to all the folks who make this blog one of their guilty (or perhaps not-so-guilty) pleasures.

The album from which I obtained the song of the moment is also one of my current guilty pleasures. It seems I have much to ask pardon for.

A pat on the back if you can tell me who the artist is. A hint: he's from Toronto.

Of course, it's possible that he's getting some playtime now. So it might be easy.
The tin tin cartoons never quite lived up to the mark imo. They never captured the magic of the books. I think whats worse are the asterix cartoons, esp the ones dubbed in sinhala. dont ever watch if you have a love of Asterix. having said that, speilberg just might do a good job with tin tin. hope so anyway.

As for Gurindher chada, Bend it like beckam was tolerable but not Bride and Prejudice. She killed the subtlety and the satire of Austens work..again in my humble (ok maybe not so humble) opinion :D

From what I can remember, Tintin and Asterix were the first books I ever read.

I actually brought a few copies - Asterix the Gaul, The Secret of the Unicorn, Prisoners of the Sun and Explorers on the Moon - with me from Sri Lanka when we emigrated.

Unfortunately, my sister did a number on them when she was around two or three. But, I still have Asterix the Gaul and Explorers on the Moon in good condition though. The Secret of the Unicorn is lost and Prisoners of the Sun is missing it's cover and a few pages near the end.

I actually just bought a hardcover, first-time-in-English/my-French-isn't-that-good, edition of Tintin in the Congo. I'll have to read it once exams is over.

The secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackams Treasure were two of my favourites. Along with the one with the little arab boy. Also love The Calculus Affair and The Seven Crystal Balls.Asterix : one of the funniest was the one where they invade Britain, and the soothsayer one..Oh they are all so great. Were among the first books I read too, those and Enid blytons.
